Leah Okner has been Fitness Manager at The Clare since March 2018. She attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in gerontology and a master’s degree in kinesiology. Leah is an American Council of Exercise Certified Group Exercise Instructor and National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer. She has been teaching group exercise classes for 14 years and personal training for 10 years, and she has 10 years of management experience in the fitness industry.
After completing her degrees, Leah served as a Research Associate for Indiana University and The United States Navy for three years. In this role, she trained and collected research on Active Duty service members between the ages of 40 and 60 years old at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii and Naval Base San Diego in California. She then served as the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. Prior to coming to The Clare,
Leah worked as the Wellness Manager at Franciscan Health & Fitness Centers in Schererville, Indiana, where she managed the fitness floor, personal training, group exercise and wellness programming for a medically based fitness center.
When Leah is not at The Clare, she enjoys playing or hiking with her dog, riding bikes and spending time with her family.
